Arrived

February 8th, 2008

I’ve arrived safe and sound in the states and let me tell you the weather is amazing. We’ve got sunshine and it’s getting warmer here! Sure, it’s no summer weather just yet, but I’m walking around in a t-shirt, which is more than I can say about Germany right now.

Our flight was absolutely fine, got to fly first class due to some friendly happenings at the gate, so the 10 hours and 40 minutes flew by in a daze. I got to watch two movies, Elizabeth and No Reservations, which weren’t as bad as I had though. First class has touch screen tvs now, which suck absolute balls! They are slow and unresponsive and drive you up the walls! But, no complaining from my side, I slept 4 hours and got some fantastic food. Good for you Lufthansa.

I have some amazing pictures from the flight, because when we landed a Airbus 340 from American Airlines landed parallel to us in San Fransisco and I have pictures of him right at our wing tip (We were a heavy Boeing 747) and also some really nice pictures of Mount Shasta and also Greenland. So look forward to that once I get off my ass and find a card reader. Hah.

Edit: And I’ve found the awesome card reader and can now entertain you with fantastic pictures!

I was goign to put them in directly, but I don’t have photoshop to resize them and i think my laptop may break in the process of installing it. (CS3 on a 7 year old VAIO, I think not!)

First Picture
At least it’s sunny above the earth, that’s greenland or something or another (Lots of ice though!)

Second Picture
This would be Mt. Shasta in.. Washington I believe?

Third Picture
This was the A340 I was talking about, that was flying next to us the whole time. I didn’t zoom all that much, so it goes to show they were indeed quite close!

Fourth Picture
They fell behind because we were fast mother fuckers, bwahaha we win!

Fifth Picture
This is what view I am currently enjoying out of my windows. Sunshine at Clearlake!

Miss me?

February 5th, 2008

Though I assume most people didn’t notice I’m even gone, I am in fact back up and rockin’ a new layout to boot!

I’ve decided to turn this into more of a photo-blog-ish, since I’m travelling around come tomorrow and some people do like to look at pretty pictures. (Others don’t and shame on you!) However, before I did that I just got to lock a lot of posts and password protect them so you crazy stalker people don’t stalk on my depressing love life has-beens. Hah.

Today marks D-Day minus 1, as I’m all packed and ready to go. I’ve got about 25 kg worth of clothes and other assorted accessories in my luggage, half of which I doubt I’ll even glance at once I reach the states. And you’d think that since we have a house there, I’d have to take less crap with me, nah. I use this as an excuse to pack even MORE stuff on top.. it may get SUDDENLY hot in California in February that I may need a swimsuit, just maybe! (*cough**Cry**couch*).

I’ve been trying to figure out why I’ve been having a hard time leaving this time around, normally I’m just about bouncing at the door waiting for the cab to come. I guess because this marks the end of a lot of ties in the Netherlands and Germany, the start of something fresh and the end of old drama. It’ll be for the best I’m sure, but that doesn’t make it easier.

Flight schedule for the day:
Hamburg to Frankfurt :: Departure: 06:00
Frankfurt to San francisco :: Departure: 09:55

I’ll be touching american soil at exactly 02:00pm, odd. It should be a boring flight, nine hours of inflight entertainment (thank god that Business class has video games now-a-days).

I’ll be reporting back with pictures from Clearlake tomorrow night. Toodeloo and Au Revoir!
