I had the -best- day ever yesterday, it’s not even funny. I had written about the guy I met here, well he is in the Air Force around here and is a mechanic for F-16s. Yesterday he decided to take me to the base he stationed on, about 40 minutes away from where I live now.

First off was a stop at his hangar to look at his plane and generally tell me about the planes. I feel like I forgot half of it already, but it was so damn interesting to hear about all of it, and the plane is amazing. The different checks and balances to stabilize it, as well as the sensors and fuel tanks etc. amazing. He put power on one of them and I got to sit in the cockpit and look at all the pretty lights. He really knows his stuff, but managed to explain it in a way that even my blonde head understood it.

After that we went to his old Squadron’s headquarters and I got to hang out with 20 something military men, which was pretty damn awesome. They were making fun of him, because we speak english together, but he is Dutch and I’m half Dutch and German; wierd combination.
They kept thinking I don’t speak any dutch, so they were asking him about me; if I’m his girlfriend etc. Ackward but funny.

At around 6 in the evening they were getting ready for nightflights, so I went with him to one of the hangars. There they had to get the plane ready to go and he was Crew Chief for that round, so he got to do all the checks. It was really sweet, they attached my headphones to the plane so I got to listen to them checking everytrhing and talking to each other over the radio, while watching the flaps move around and everything being tested.
They then started the plane, whcih was a damn awesome feeling, felt like my body was being squished, haha. I got to walk to the back and feel the stream of air out of the engine, which is so strong that people are easily catapulted a few hundred meters away. It’s damn dangerous, so I only tested with my hand and that’s it.

Then he took the plane out and we saw it take off from the runway, which made the entire earth vibrate, sicne we were so close.
All in all it was damn exciting and the planes are super super amazing and cool. I totally want one for my house, imagine riding to school in one of those babies; can you say boy-magnet?!

Later on we went for dinner and then home, but when I got home i was so dead I wouldn’t have been able to do anything else anyway. Just being outside all day in the fresh air really did tire me out, plus it was SO damn cold, I just wanted my bed. I got to wear his sexy military uniform though, which was fun. Men in uniform, mmmmmhm!

Here are a couple pictures from the day, I’m too lazy to get all the others out:

Back of the plane, that’s where the air comes out, which can easily knock you over. He can close and open the opening in the back to increase/decrease the pressure respectively.

Front view from a ladder (the things are huge). The things on the right are fuel tanks, though often mistaken for bombs. And the tip is a air-pressure sensor, which looks freakin’ awesome.

My favourite shot of the plane, I think it looks damn awesome just standing there; so incredibly impressive.

Cockpit shot. The pilot has a screen infront of his nose, which is actually just a projection of all his mission details. Additionally, he sees targets when he is following another plane in combat.
At the bottom is the air intake thing, which is huge and can easily house two people (if you like squishing into it at the bottom). It’s really amazing

So, all in all it was a great day with lots of new things, so I couldn’t be happier. He’s hot, haha.
